Leirion proposes Neighborhood grant program

Lincoln mayor candidate Leirion Gaylor Baird plans to create a neighborhood grants program that will use money from philanthropic and nonprofit organizations to help fund neighborhood improvement projects.

Grants could be used to develop community gardens, make local park improvements, host neighborhood socials, or support pop-up markets, Gaylor Baird said, giving examples of the potential projects.

“By strengthening neighborhoods, these projects will enhance public safety and the vitality of our city,” Gaylor Baird said in a news release on her proposal.
